September 25&26, 2010 - CO

South Fork, Denver & Rio Grande Railway Historic Foundation

South Fork, CO – Rio Grande Fall Run. The Rocky Mountain Division invites you to come follow the Rio Grande river on this historic, and scenic property in the mountains of Colorado. This is a great low key run for mentoring new operators, and a great run to see how your car runs in the mountains. We will arrange the run to travel somewhere between 60 to 80 track miles during these dates, traveling from South Fork to Wasson Wye and return . The run will be limited to 25 cars.  You may run either or both days.  Checks should be made to "Rocky Mountain Division". NARCOA rules and insurance will be in effect.  Spark arrestors will be required. No Hi-Rails.  No Smoking.  Philip Walters will be EC. Cost: $160 ($110 for paid RMD members) for the first day you run and $50 for a second day. Fee must be received by EC two weeks prior to the event.

The Schedule

Saturday-  Set on will be at 8am at the first crossing above the depot in South Fork.  There will be a mandatory safety meeting at 8:40am and departure will be no later than 9am.  We will run to Wasson Wye and then return to Blue Creek for a lunch break.  Depending on schedule and whether or not there is an afternoon run of the Silver Streak, we may or may not run all the way to South Fork to turn.  If there is not enough time to make it to South Fork prior to the departure of the Silver Streak, we will have to turn somewhere on the line and then make our second run to Wasson Wye without  a midday South Fork stop.  After turning at Wasson Wye we will then return to South Fork Following the afternoon run of the Silver Streak, arriving at South Fork approximately at 6:30pm

Note: there is no provision for partial days or midday set on due to the uncertainty as to whether we will make a midday return to South Fork.

Sunday- Set on of new cars will be at 8am at the first crossing above at the depot in South Fork.  There will be a mandatory safety meeting at 8:40am and departure will be no later than 9am.  We will run to Wasson Wye and then return to South Fork following the Silver Streak with no lunch stops, so carry your own lunch.  Anyone who does not want to make a second run in the afternoon can set out in South Fork.  If anyone wants to make a second run Sunday afternoon, we will make another run to Wagon Wheel Gap and return to South Fork to set off.
