About 125 years ago, thousands of miners, including such infamous notables as Soapy Smith, Bat Masterson, and Bob Ford came from all over the USA to seek their fortunes in Creede, Colorado. Now, we can follow their tracks along the beautiful Rio Grande River and marvel at the 1883 depot at Wagon Wheel Gap. Not only will you see this historic railroad of Southwest Colorado, but you will also feel it as you go along the 22 mile standard gauge route. We may even spot some deer, coyotes, and big horn sheep along the tracks. Join the RMD in a ride through the Rocky Mountains that will provide lifelong memories! [DD] No motorcar may set on unless payment has been made to RMD. Set on will begin at 7:00am You must arrive by 8:15am for inspection to be allowed to run. Set-on will be near the South Fork Depot. From US 160 Junction with CO 149, go North on CO 149 8/10 of a mile and turn left onto Ponderosa Drive. (Ponderosa is just before the railroad crossing on CO 149) About 2/10 of a mile along Ponderosa, you will pass the Depot on your right. Set on will be at the next grade crossing on your right, Deer Run. On Sunday bring your own lunch, as we will will be making two trips to Wasson. Monday we will stop for lunch at Blue Creek, only making one run from South fork to Wasson. Each day we will depart an hour ahead of the Silver Streak, and proceed to Wasson Wye, turn there, take a potty break and then return to South Fork following the Silver Streak.
