Late entry participants will be considered on a case by case basis but it may
not be possible to attend the bar b cue.
There are a number of motels/hotels in the Leadville area but reservations
should be made early as this is a popular summer/fall tourist spot. Visit
www.leadville.com for details. In addition Climax mine is engaged in startup
activity and rooms may be difficult to find on a last minute basis.
Note the following: This is a very high altitude run. We will be operating from
an elevation of 10,000 ft above sea level to over 11,000 feet. Grades vary
between 0 and 2%. A typical car can lose in excess of 30 % of its sea level
horsepower rating at this altitude. Although the weather can be quite pleasant,
changeable weather from summer highs of 70 * F to freezing winter weather
conditions can occur in short periods of time along our route. Hypothermia is a
very distinct possibility. Dress and plan accordingly. There are no facilities
on this run and bathrooms at the roundhouse are very limited.
Continue to monitor this site for any changes or additional details.
