San Luis & Rio Grande Railroad La Veta Pass, Antonito and Del Norte CO October 23 and 24, 2010
Alamosa, Colorado. The Rocky Mountain Division is hosting a 263 mile excursion on the San Luis & Rio Grande railroad. This will be a two day excursion with set on and safety inspection at LaDue Street between 5PM and 7PM on October 22, 2010, at Alamosa, Colorado. Campers may park at the set on for both nights. The safety meeting will be at 6:40AM on October 23, 2010, with a 7AM departure for La Veta Pass with a turn west of Walsenburg at MP 180.12 and return to Alamosa at 6:30PM. A full western lunch is available at La Veta for $12.00 extra. On October 24, 2010, a safety meeting will be held at 6:40AM with a 7AM departure for Antonito, Colorado. After approximately a 1 hour lay over next to the CATS depot, we will return to Alamosa. We will then depart from Alamosa with a noon arrival at Del Norte. Picnic tables are available at Del Norte for lunch on your own. We will depart Del Norte at 1PM with a 2:30PM arrival back at Alamosa for set off. The SLRG will provide free vouchers to all riders for discounted fares ($20.00 coach/$30.00 dome car) good until October 30, 2011 on the SLRG over La Veta Pass starting from either direction.. This will be a NARCOA insured excursion with all NARCOA rules. The cost is $180.00. Please send checks payable to RMD at 38692 Indian Head Lane, Crawford, CO 81415. There will be a 25 car maximum.
